This instantly gained her media recognition. Hurley's friendship in the company of Estee Lauder is her most unforgettable professional encounter. Katy Perry..........................Katy Perry original name Katheryn Elizabeth Hudson, (born October 25 1984 Santa Barbara California U.S.) American pop singer who gained fame for a string of anthemic and often sexually suggestive hit songs as well as for a playfully cartoonish sense of style. Perry's attempts to gain popular recognition were unsuccessful. Before any new material could be released the two major labels signed but then dropped Perry. Capitol Records released Perry's Ur So Gay EP in 2007, which received modest interest for its cheerfully flippant track. Perry became a bigger star several months later with the track I Kissed a Girl an assertive ode to sexual curiosity backed by a sharp electro-pop beat. The song was controversial, as critics criticized it for encouraging relationships with a partner and others claimed that it portrayed a racy scene that enticed men's fantasies about female sexuality. I Kissed a Girl was an immediate hit for Perry's album The One of the Boys in 2008, thanks to the combination of sexual enthusiasm and polished melodicism. The album's song, the second Hot N Cold also proving popular the album much of the songs Perry created herself ultimately registered sales of more than 3 million copies across the United States.
